After our bad start to the league we managed to regroup and put together both our league and cup campaigns, seeing off some of our stiffest competition for the top league positions and also a decent progression in the cups in our first season.

Josh Thomas gets scholarship deal

Josh Thomas age 15 gained a professional contract with Scunthorpe United. When he leaves school in the summer Josh starts full time at Scunthorpe on a 2 year scholarship to become a professional footballer. Josh started his footballing career at 7 years old playing for Handley Wood for 2 years then moving too Britannia Boys with his dad who was manager helping them win a trophy at their first asking in a tournament, after one season Josh joins Porter FC of Sheffield improving his game by being  around better players. Josh then started additional coaching sessions with a Nottingham Forest camp at Dronfield on a Monday night for 2 hours this was an out school by Forest to find talent in other areas. Josh's chance came when the out school which was one of the four ran by Forest in Leicester, Grantham, Retford and Dronfield, were all invited to play against each other at the Forest academy. The Dronfield school beat all the others by a considerable margin in each of the games with Josh scoring more than one goal in each game. The Dronfield school got invited back to play the academy players a few weeks later a game they lost 5-2 but Josh scored and Sykes scored Josh's strike partner.

They both got a trial with the academy along with another player Delano of Sheffield but Josh was the only one to get a contract after scoring against West Ham United after 12 secs of coming on as a sub. Josh was at Forest for two seasons scoring 40 goals but was released because another player was a second quicker off the mark but only scored 10 goals in the same period. Forest claimed that you can't buy pace, Josh then went to Sheffield United for two seasons not playing much in the first season as there is not enough games at under 15s but scored 5 goals in 9 games. Then at under 16's Josh scored 8 goals in 12 games before an ankle injury kept him out for 6 weeks. Josh was later released by United but several coaches disagreed with the decision. Josh's goal was always to become a professional footballer and started training with Derby  before Scunthorpe offered him a trial game Sunday 17th February. Josh scored two goals in a 3-1 win against Darlington

and this lead Scunthorpe to offer him the contract. FC Brimington would like to wish Josh all the best as he trained with the team in pre season and showed us his talent.
